Qatar's national airline, Qatar Airways, plans to begin pbadenger flights to Ghana, Aviation Minister Kofi Ada said.
"Qatar [Airways] is doing rather well in Ghana with its freight operations and they want to start operating pbadenger flights to Ghana. We already have an air service agreement with them, so once they are ready, they can start their operations, "said the minister.
This announcement follows a courtesy visit by the Ambbadador of Qatar to Ghana, HE Mohammed Ahmad Al Homaid, to the Minister.
Qatar Airways currently serves more than 160 destinations on six continents and is considered one of the fastest growing airlines in the world.
He has recently started operations in Somalia.
For many, this new investment is an indication of Qatar's commitment to the African continent.
The airline operates 127 flights per week to 22 destinations in five African countries.
