Steven Davis praised the Rangers' academy players by insisting that quality must go through the youth setup.
The giants of Old Firm paid particular attention to their academy, Steven Gerrard having called several players to train with the first team.
The Rangers were also crowned reserve league champions last term, with several academy candidates playing throughout their campaign.
And in anticipation of the upcoming season, the Gers has maintained its policy of involving youngsters with the stars of the first team in pre-season training.
Davis, who has watched some of the youth closely this summer, praised their abilities by pointing out that there is a lot of potential in the ranks of young people.
The Gers veteran also admitted that there was still a lot of progress to be made among younger players and felt that they were all working to make a good impression in front of the manager.
"We could see several [from the academy] last year on many occasions, they came and trained with us "Davis said to Rangers TV.
"I think there is a lot of quality, a lot of capacity and a lot of progress to make.
"So, I think there are very good players out there and they will also look to give a hand and show the manager what they can do and try to make an impact."
The Rangers have loaned academy graduates Ross McCrorie, Stephen Kelly and Cammy Palmer for the upcoming season.
