As much as I want to believe that Cyril Ramaphosa is honest, sincere and determined to bring our country honorably where it should be and to eradicate corruption, the evidence crushed daily in the headlines and the confidence destroying articles, force me to him to ask, without any sense of irony or sarcasm:
What's wrong with you, Cyril? Seriously? What are you doing?
I know you are a smart human being, but these questions need to be asked because there is a sharp gap between what you say and what you seem to do – which is nothing. I have to ask you, do you really understand the dire situation in which the country is located? I guess you've lost contact with reality in your bubble of privilege, because every day that pbades, we find ourselves deeper into the cesspool of corruption and disintegration of infrastructure, making it even more difficult to get out of the mud and to save our country.
When will you demonstrate the urgency of our collective situation? And, excuse my sentence, but, when are you going to show the strings of a great leader held to start stopping our descent further into the crappy circumstances you seem happy to see us slide?
Honest South Africans are tired of your procrastination, of your juggling for the program, of your hesitation so polite and appropriate, while things only get worse. You can be impressed by your own scholarly words, but they are lost to the rest of us. What is the purpose of the articulated podium of the lectern as the scene burns to ashes around you? You should have only one goal: to put the country and the people first and the devil your corrupt comrades.
You sat on your hands while turning your thumbs while the Zupta operation was being deployed by the ANC. You can not say you did not know it was happening. Yet you give priority to the preservation of political will and quietly observe the flames of corruption, slowly at first and then with increasing acceleration, engulfing our formerly great and beautiful country. Your record seems to show that this is what you do best: nothing! You are looking for number 1 and condemn the rest of us to decades of conflict, struggle and poverty.
Not only did Zotarruption of South Africa settle in while you were sitting quietly, but it keeps moving at full speed as you continue to sit quietly and watch this runaway train heading towards the inevitable dead end disaster. Suddenly six generators collapse all at the same time. Suddenly, Eskom refuses to transport coal for the other generators. Suddenly, Ajay Gupta is withdrawn his accusations.
Gavin Watson and Markus Jooste continue to live the high life is paradise. And now, Eskom will increase our electricity costs by 23% over three years? Do you see the trend developing here? I will eat my hat and words if the NERSA board does not all wear leather jackets and is not on Gupta's payroll. How could they approve of such an increase? How could you allow them to approve such an increase?
What do you understand, Cyril, that these increases are neither durable nor tolerable? But you let the corrupt NERSA board respond to Eskom / Zupta's offer call while sitting idly by twisting your thumbs, doing exactly what you had to do. Who is responsible for this country, Cyril? If that's really you, prove it! If it is not you, then have the decency to tell us that you are a useless puppet played by the forces of Zuma, much more depressing, and finish with that.
As malicious and immoral as Zuma is, at least he has had the courage to go ahead and carry out his program, as corrupt and perverse as he is. He always told us that so many decisions, appointments and projects were the prerogative of the president, no matter how unpopular they were. And you and the ANC have all nodded in a soothing silence of the moving head. When will you start using your presidential prerogative for the sake of South Africa Cyril? When will you demonstrate the strength and urgency needed to not only stop but reverse the contamination that your party has contaminated our country?
Under your supervision, Cyril, the Guptas have been allowed to leave the country to escape forever the justice and the obligation to answer for their crimes. The other day, Ajay Gupta was arrested. Under your watch, Gavin Watson is still a free man while his colleagues and his company have been indicted. How can everyone be impeached when the evil brain of Bosasa is allowed to liberate himself with all his might?
We all know that our police, the NPA and the Public Protector are all on Zupta's payroll, compromised and unworthy of their work and now, alarmingly, we know that our courts are also compromised and that many judges and magistrates are on the payroll of Zupta and Watson. There can be no other rational explanation for which our timid courts always speak in favor of the corrupt. We are tired of the inefficiency of our ineffective police, NPA, PP, and judicial system, which condescendingly explain why they can not accuse and corrupt the corrupt. Enough excuses already! We want a justice system that tells us how many corrupt businessmen, politicians and public servants, have been charged and are being prosecuted. Do you have the courage to do it?
Zuma will remain the most corrupt president in South Africa's history, before and after 1994. Unless you do something meaningful, quickly, you'll become the blandest duck president in our history and probably from the world. This ignominy would be a catalyst for action for any honest and proud leader, but you seem content to wear this embarrbading label as long as you have the right to play the role of president in front of the media and tell healthy but superficial stories.
Honestly, I wonder if you are not on the paylist of Zuptas or Watson. What other reason can there be for your lethargic soft-wrist response to the disaster in the country?
Prove me the contrary. Please.
But for the sake of God, Cyril! For the interest of the country. For our peoples. DO SOMETHING! NOW.
