Champions beloved in the hope of coming back soon

The Miami Open presented by Itau will not have two Top 5 players when the tournament starts Wednesday.

No. 2 Rafael Nadal (right knee) and No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro (right knee) will miss the second tournament of the month, the ATP Masters 1000. Del Potro also missed the BNP Paribas Open, where he has won the 2018 title for his first Masters 1000 (D. Federer).

Lamentablemente no podré jugar el @miamiopen is a question when reading this page. Espero verlos el año próximo ?

Unfortunately, I will not be able to play Miami this year. Looking forward to coming back in 2020!

Argentina fractured the right kneecap at the Rolex Shanghai Masters last October and is still healing his injury.

Nadal reached the semifinals at Indian Wells but had to pull out of his semifinal against Roger Federer because of a right knee pain.

The Spaniard plans to return to the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, the first ATP Masters 1000 clay court of the season. Nadal won the tournament 11 times.
