Several railway companies have reported problems with the collection of prepaid tickets from machines across the country on Tuesday morning.

Greater Anglia, Thameslink, Stansted Express, Southern, Southeastern and ScotRail have all confirmed that they have been affected by the problem.

The Rail Delivery Group, representing rail operators, said the problem was settled around 10:00 GMT.

Customers were invited to use the wickets with staff as much as possible.

Most railway companies have stated that any proof of purchase, such as a ticket reference number, was rather accepted.

One person tweeted that the button to collect prepaid tickets was greyed out on "every machine" at London Liverpool Street on Tuesday morning.

A spokesman for the Rail Delivery Group said that one of the vendors of ATMs was having problems receiving information from computer servers.

He apologized for the inconvenience caused to the pbadengers and advised the persons concerned to talk to their train company or to go to the ticket office.

He confirmed that the problem had affected several operators but not all the machines in the country.

Virgin Trains said that its ATMs had not been affected.

Earlier, a rail pbadenger, Matthew Farren, had tweeted: "Well done @tfwrail Not only is the door to enter Newport station not working, but now the cash machines are also down – do not inspire a lot of confidence. "

The problem concerned only the collection of prepaid tickets and all other types of tickets could be purchased at the machines.

Legend

A sign in Milton Keynes Central told pbadengers that there was a "nationwide system failure"

Train ticket distributors also broke down last June, with messages on the screen saying there was "no online connectivity".

The question, which was solved after three hours, seemed to come from the software and systems provided by Scheidt & Bachmann, but the German company did not provide any additional information.
