The NPP Member of Parliament for the riding of Lambussie in the Upper West region, the Hon. Dr Bright Baligi has come to the aid of rainstorm victims in his constituency as he calls on the government for more support.

It provided several packages of roofing sheets to 72 households in eight communities, including an undisclosed amount of cash donations to victims to cushion them in the most difficult and trying times of their lives, especially during the season. rains.

Presenting the donations, he said it was a gesture from his own window at the moment, as he has already engaged with the central government through the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO regarding their fate.

He also took the opportunity to appeal to the Ghana Ministry of Education and Education Service to accelerate measures to repair Lambussie Community Day High School, which was completely destroyed by a storm. previous rain.

He said the current state of the school is not convenient for learning, especially during this rainy season, and poses a potential threat to the lives of students and teachers.

The beneficiaries said their situation has become an annual recurring problem and called for a lasting solution to remedy their situation. However, they expressed their deepest gratitude to the Honorable Member for showing their concern and interest in their plight.

In a related development, the Member of Parliament also provided packages of roofing sheets to three basic schools and a bungalow for teachers who were also affected by the torrential rain disaster. He was optimistic that the roof would be done very soon to bring students back to the classroom and safe and conducive accommodation for teachers.

The lawmaker took the opportunity to encourage his constituents to take more interest than anyone else in the government’s agenda for a green Ghana by planting more trees in their various communities, especially around their homes and ensuring their growth. . He said this will help reduce the impact of any storm in the future, as the trees will act as windbreaks.

He also encouraged his constituents to participate fully in the ongoing population and housing census.
