The organizing committee of the annual Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup has postponed this year's edition to next weekend, Saturday, June 15, 2019.
The fifth edition was scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 8 at Wembley Park, Kotobabi, Accra, but the organizers have now reprogrammed it due to the ban on making noise for the Homowo festival.
"The Ramadan Cup is a sports festival that also plays background music during the competition. We realized that our sound system and sound reinforcement would violate Homowo's noise ban in our community. It is therefore important for us to respect the ban and reschedule it, "said Tamimu Issah, tournament coordinator.
"We coexist peacefully in these communities, so it's important to continue to respect one another, and the Ramadan Cup is named after a renowned peace advocate, so we do not want to do anything that can cause confusion."
