Heart Liberty Squad Hearts lost 5-4 on penalties

Hearts of Oak was ruled out of the Tier II special competition in shocking fashion after losing 5-4 on penalties against the Unistar Academy at Accra's sports stadium.

Aminu Alhbadan missed the goal to give the advantage to the lower division team, while Unistar would qualify for the quarterfinals.

The Rainbow club had taken advantage in the first period thanks to striker Kwadwo Obeng Jr after a dominant football match in the first period.

The hearts could have finished the first stanza with two or three goals, but Joseph Esso and Fatau Mohammed missed the score at 1-0.

Both teams came back from the half with renewed energy as the Phobian continued to look for a goal.

However, it is the Unistar Academy that will have the last word to laugh that Joshua Jesse scored in injury time to send the match in penalties.

Both teams were perfect since their first four penalties, but Aminu Alhbadan's shot to goal and Phobians' fifth were saved by Unistar goaltender Peter Onyame, who sent the leaders of Zone 2B in the quarter-finals.
