UPDATE: Rapper Ermias Davidson Ashedom, better known by his stage name, Nipsey Hussle, has died several times in front of his store in the Hyde Park neighborhood in Los Angeles. He was 33 years old.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Ashedom was shot several times and then transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC that no suspects had been arrested.

The shooting, which caused two injuries, took place in front of the company Marathon Clothing, created by Ashedom in 2017 with two partners. He shares a name with his clothing line, Marathon Clothing.

Born in 1985 and raised in Los Angeles, Ashedom released several mixtapes but gave up his first official album, "Victory Lap," last year. He was nominated for Best Grammy Rap Album, but lost to Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy. Signed at Atlantic Records, he performed at Warner Music in Los Angeles during the Grammy Week.

Ashedom released his first mixtape, "Slauson Boy Volume 1", in 2005, then two other volumes, "Ain Bullets & Got No Name," in 2008. Writing Roxane Gay has paid tribute to Ashedom on Twitter, writing that his death "does not make sense."
