Rawlings on a working visit to Burkina Faso

Former President Jerry John Rawlings arrived here Wednesday in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, for a three-day working visit as part of his duties as chairman of the Thomas Sankara Memorial Committee.

The former president, who is expected to meet the memorial committee on the status of the monument in honor of the deceased Burkinabe hero, met Wednesday evening with President Roch Marc Christian Kabore.

The two discussed the status of the memorial project and other issues of mutual interest. The former president will address Prime Minister Christoph Dabire on Thursday.

Former President Rawlings' visit will also include a courtesy call on Thomas Sankara's family and a visit to the Sankara memorial site. He will also have the opportunity to address the media before returning home.
