Raytheon and United Technologies are in talks for an all-stock deal, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday quoting a person familiar with the problem.

Businesses could announce an agreement in the coming days, the newspaper reported. Raytheon and United Technologies raised about $ 166 billion.

The consolidation should be presented as a merger of equals and would not affect the United Technologies project to divest its Otis and Carrier elevator construction systems business, the journalist told the Journal.

Greg Hayes, CEO of United Technologies, is expected to lead the merged company. Raytheon CEO Thomas Kennedy would be the chairman.
