Tonight on PM Express, Host, Evans Mensah and his panelists from Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Virologist at Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research, Dr Michael Owusu, Immunologist Dr Yaw Bediako and CDD Health Fellow, Kwame Asiedu Sarpong discussed the country’s readiness to deal with a possible third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The concern comes at a time when the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has warned that intensive care units at major Accra hospitals are overcrowded as the country faces an increase in Covid-19 cases.

Many, including the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research (KCCR) global health expert Dr John Amuasi, have felt that the occurrence of a third wave of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic in Ghana is inevitable.

These projections have been attributed to the surge in Covid-19 cases recorded in the country.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its latest update revealed that as of July 14, a total of 382 new cases have been reported.

The Service added that the number of active cases in Ghana stood at 2,858, with the death toll rising to 812.

Although 98,817 cases have been confirmed, 95,147 people have recovered and discharged from health facilities.
