Real Madrid joined Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race against Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has been the subject of great interest from a number of Europe's leading clubs, after an exceptional season in Portugal's first round and impressive performances at the international level.
According to Ojogo, Real Madrid, the Spanish giant, is the last club to come into play, after the Spurs saw their recent offer of Portuguese playmaker rejected.
Manchester City had already expressed interest, but they seem to have relaxed their efforts.
Meanwhile, Fernandes was a long-term target for his neighbors, Manchester United and Old Trafford, had long seemed to be the most likely destination of the 24-year-old.
However, United's inability to act quickly left the door open for Tottenham to try his luck with an "unofficial" offer of 45 million euros. This was refused by the Portuguese club, which wants to be paid an amount close to its value of € 70 million, but the Spurs want to continue their hunt.
Madrid has appealed to Jorge Mendes, the Portuguese "super-agent", to help negotiate an agreement with Fernandes, while Los Blancos become pioneers in reaching an agreement.
The La Liga club enjoys an advantage over both Premier League teams, since they have until September 2 to accept a transfer, while United and Spurs have an ever longer term , namely August 8th.
Fernandes made 53 appearances for Sporting in all competitions last season. She scored 32 goals and got 18 badists.
The Portuguese international also played a key role in his team's winning campaign, the UEFA Nations League, which crowned them champions after beating the Netherlands in the final in June.
Zinedine Zidane has already spent a lot this summer to attract Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, but their latest attempts at acquiring Fernandes suggest that they are not ready to end their summer adventure.
