Chelsea fans led the way by pointing to the out-of-form striker, who has lost his starring role at Real Madrid
Thibaut Courtois' 2018-1919 season experienced a new wave on Thursday after giving Russia an equalizer in the first qualifying match for Euro 2020 in Belgium.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper was still at the top of the world last July, thanks to his excellent performances that led Belgium to a third place in the World Cup in Russia.
His joy was crowned by a long-awaited move to Real Madrid, as well as by the FIFA prize "Best goalkeeper" for his performances during the past campaign.

But since returning to the Spanish capital, where he previously played with Atletico Madrid, Courtois has found things a bit more difficult.
He failed to show his best form during a desperately disappointing period for the Blancos and seems to have lost the favor of new coach Zinedine Zidane who turned to Keylor Navas for his first match in Santiago Bernabeu.
And if Courtois was hoping to impress Zidane, he certainly chose the wrong way to do it on Thursday.
The goalkeeper was trapped in possession of the ball and could only decide in the direction of the Russian winger Denis Cheryshev, who happily converted to cancel the first match of Yuri Tielemans.

Belgium recovered from this shock by scoring twice with Eden Hazard to finally win a 3-1 victory.
But that did not stop Courtois from feeling the full weight of the scorn of the Internet, Chelsea fans fueled by schadenfreude being particularly willing to make fun of their former hero for his mistake.
