Real Madrid should be banned from the Champions League next year because of the fact that it does not have a women's team, according to Adrian Durham of talkSPORT.

The 13-time winners of the Champions League are far behind some of the best European clubs in terms of women's football.

In December, club president Florentino Perez proudly declared that eSport would play an important role in the future of the club, as well as the prospect of building a Real Madrid theme park in the Spanish capital.

But at the recent AGM on the possibility of creating a women's team, he simply did not respond, club officials later pointed out that it was not a priority for them at the moment.

And speaking of Drivetime, Durham expressed his disgust at this decision – insisting that the Spanish giants be heavily penalized for their actions.

"The Spanish capital hosted Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona this weekend, and more than 60,000 spectators attended," he said.

"It tells you how seriously women's sport is starting out there.

"Despite this, Real Madrid, one of the biggest football clubs in the world, continues to ignore women's football.

"Every Premier League club has a women's team, so why not them ?!

"The solution is to ban Real Madrid from the Champions League next season.

"It's the only way the powers of this football club can focus on what's important."

"They are very enthusiastic, like eSports and theme park planning, but a women's team is not a priority?

"Tell me how you're doing. "They received proposals from different people and completely ignored them.

"The fact that the club president did not even respond to the invitation to do so, says everything."
