Real Madrid have signed with left-back Ferland Mendy of Lyon for £ 47.1m, which allows them to spend around £ 300m in the summer.
The 24-year-old French international has signed a six-year contract at Bernabeu.
The club has already hired Belgian striker Eden Hazard of Chelsea for an amount exceeding £ 150m and Serbian striker Luka Jovic of Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported amount of £ 53m.
In March, they hired Porto defender Eder Militao for £ 42.7m.
The former youngster of Paris St-Germain, Mendy, joined Lyon from Le Havre in 2017 and played 79 caps for the Ligue 1 club in two seasons. He played in all the matches of the Champions League 16 last season.
He won the first of three selections for France in November and started Tuesday's 4-0 win against Andorra in qualifying for Euro 2020.
