Real Madrid have replaced Manchester United as the richest football club in the world after posting record revenues in the 2017-18 season.

With a third consecutive title in the Champions League last season, the Spanish club Real Madrid has achieved a turnover of 750.9 million euros, according to the annual report of the Football Money League released by professional services firm Deloitte on Thursday.

It's their 12th place at the top of the rankings, which is in their 22nd year, and their first since 2014-2015.

Dan Jones, head of Deloitte's Sports Sports Group, said: "Real Madrid's outstanding financial performance in 2017-2018 is based on its long history of success on the field, including recently three consecutive Champions League titles.

"This has allowed the club to continue to generate commercial revenue while the appetite for partnership with the most successful clubs in Europe remains stronger than ever."

Rankings are based on club match revenue, broadcast money and commercial transactions during the 2017-2018 season.

Barcelona (690.4 million euros) climbed to second place, followed by Manchester United, which was the best of the last two seasons.

The German champion, Bayern Munich, is in fourth place ahead of English king Manchester City and defending champion Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur follow, giving the Premier League six of the top ten teams.

The top 220 clubs generated a record combined turnover of 8.3 billion euros in 2017-2018, an increase of 6% over the previous year, said Deloitte.
