The defender spoke of the penalty he inflicted on Panenka in the 4-2 win of the Real Madrid Cup quarter-final against Girona.

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos explained that the penalty for Panenka was "a way to express my individuality" after his successful kick against Girona.

Ramos scored two goals, including a very cold one, in the 4-2 win of the Copa del Rey World Cup quarter-final against Girona on Thursday.

The Spanish international put Madrid 2-1 on the half-time approach when he beat Gorka Iraizoz with a Panenka, before scoring his second goal and the club's third in the 77th minute.

"The tie is still very open," said Ramos. "We got a good result and we would have liked to keep a blank sheet but it shows that the teams are not easy in this competition.

"We have already seen Girona against Atletico [Madrid]but we have taken a big step in the right direction and now we have to go and finish the job.

"They hurt us with their two strikers who have so much pace but we have better mastered the situation in the second half and we have been lucky to be in front of goal .I hope we can continue to to achieve such positive results. "
