The US announced Wednesday that possible product alterations had forced the recall of more than 95 tonnes of Duke-branded ready-to-eat pork sausages. The handling seems to have occurred after the manufacture of the products.
The products come in various varieties in 5 ounce bags. They understand:
- Duke Hickory Smoked Barbeque Shortcake
- Duke Hot and Spicy Smoked Sausage Shorty
- Smoked shorty sausages from Duke's original recipe
- Duke's Andouille and Cajun style smoked sausage shorts
- Duke's Hatch Green Chili Shortcup
The reminder announcement did not specify what type of forgery had occurred.

Monogram Meat Snacks, LLC, an establishment in Martinsville, Va., Recalls approximately 191,928 pounds of ready-to-eat pork sausages that may be adulterated due to possible product contamination, safety service, and food safety. Food Inspection (FSIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture. announced today. This recall is initiated due to alteration of the product as a result of the production process.
Pork sausages ready to eat are heat-treated and keep well. The items were produced and packaged on behalf of the Conagra / Duke's Meats brand on various dates between January 16 and March 7, 2019. The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels (PDF only)]

Products subject to recall bear the EST establishment number. 795 "inside the USDA inspection mark. These items have been shipped to retail outlets across the country.
The problem was discovered on March 11, 2019 when the establishment confirmed that the product had been distributed in US commerce.
No cases of adverse effect related to the consumption of these products has been confirmed. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
