WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Bronte Law scored a birdie on the par-4 of the 18th Saturday for a total of under 67 and a header from the Pure Silk Championship for the third round in a row.
"I was running from the beginning and wanted to continue, so it was huge to keep going that way," Law said. "It was really my goal when I was 18. I'm happy to finish the tour this way for tomorrow."
NASA Hataoka matched Law under 13 at 200 at Kingsmill Resort. She rebounded after a boguey on the 14th normal 4 with an eagle on the 15th of the normal game over 65.
"I did not think of where I would have a bogey or anything like that, so when that happened, it happened," Hataoka said. "Then I just erased it."
The Japanese player won the Kia Clbadic in Carlsbad, California at the end of March for her third LPGA Tour title.
Law is without a victory on the circuit. The Englishwoman played at UCLA.
"Of course, winning is everything, no?" Law said "That's why we play this game. I'm going to do my best to go out and win the win."
American Jennifer Song, tied for the lead after each of the first two rounds, had 68 to go back to Brooke Henderson. Song, the former player of the University of Southern California, is also without a win on tour.
"The most difficult part today has been the wind that has rocked here and there," Song said. "It was quite difficult to make decisions with my club."
Henderson had a 64.
"This year, there is a little more wind than in the past and you get a lot of roll around the tee and the greens too," said the Canadian. "You just have to play smart around this golf course."
Carlota Ciganda was 11 years old after a 68, and Madelene Sagstrom had a 69 to get 10 under.
The US Women's Open will be held next week at the Charleston Country Club in South Carolina.
