Meg Lanning won a third consecutive throw in the multi-format series as Australia chose to beat India in the third ODI at Mackay. Speedster Stella Campbell makes her international debut for Australia by making two more changes to their second ODI XI as vice-captain Rachael Haynes returns to her usual opening position after missing the previous match with an elbow injury while Allrounder Allrounder Annabel Sutherland gets her first game of the seven game series.

The hosts left out pace bowlers Darcie Brown and Hannah Darlington and wrist shooter Georgia Wareham. Lanning told the toss that Wareham has a slight quad issue which she picked up on Friday, but should be in good shape for the free-standing pink ball test match which begins on September 30 at Metricon Stadium.

India, who have fallen behind on the zero points table against Australia’s four straight losses so far, have made a change to their roster: All-round bowler Sneh Rana is in place of the wrist shooter Poonam Yadav. Rana was left out for the second ODI which India lost on the last ball in a bit of late.

Campbell, 19, had made a mark with 3 for 38 in last week’s unique warm-up match in Brisbane and was one of the finds in the national bowling ranks thanks to his impressive exploits with his WBBL Sydney team Sixers. She, along with Sutherland, who had made 20 and picked up 1 for 12 in the practice match, is expected to continue the shortball ploy that has been a hallmark of the Australian offense so far this series.

The third ODI will be played on the same Ray Mitchell Oval surface that was used for the second game two days ago.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, Indian hitter Smriti Mandhana and versatile Deepti Sharma were revealed as the Sydney Thunder’s away signings for the WBBL’s seventh season.
