Ms. Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson, Bono Regional Minister, called for effective media cooperation with the Regional Coordinating Council (CRC) to implement the government's programs and policies for the rapid development of the region.
Ms. Kumi-Richardson made this appeal during her first meeting with the media and some department heads to suggest ideas that could promote socio-economic development in order to improve the living conditions of the population in Sunyani. .
She advised the media to use their respective platforms to promote peace and unity in the region, saying the progress made on peace and unity, but that disunity is delaying the development of a community.
She said that any country where peace prevails, political stability and hence socio-economic progress is a necessity to attract investors and encourage them to invest in creating jobs and creating wealth, benefit in particular of the unemployed population.
She urged professionals from diverse backgrounds, politicians and all residents of the region to unite to support the RCC in the successful implementation of the region's development agenda.
Ms. Kumi-Richardson said that the media, as well as political communicators and social commentators, should refrain from using excessive and incendiary languages that could generate conflict to disturb the peace not only in the region but throughout the country.
She called on the media to talk more about development issues and to educate the mbades about nationalism but not fanatics. She has also badisted her office, municipal and district heads in getting feedback from the public to enable her to fulfill her mandate effectively.
Ms. Kumi Richardson announced that CCR's doors are always open for suggestions and ideas that can promote the socio-economic well-being of local residents.
