The National Executive Committee of the Association of University Teachers of Ghana (UTAG) has requested the immediate reinstatement of the 23 staff members of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), who have been dismissed, demoted or suspended .

At a press conference held yesterday, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah, National President of UTAG, asked the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to conduct promptly an investigation into the conflict of interest invoked against Professor EN Abakah, Chairman of the STE Board of Directors.
According to him, Professor EN Abakah, as chairman of the STE board of directors, must resign because he has not provided guidance and advice to the entire board of directors. Administration and management of the STE.
He also asked the National Council of Higher Education (NCTE), the Ministry of Education, the Office of Economic and Organized Crime (EOCO) and the Office of the Special Prosecutor of the Ministry of Education. to investigate several allegations against Professor Afful-Broni.
Dr. Mensah requested an investigation into alleged promotions to individuals who did not meet the requirements set out in the statutes of UEW.
The UTAG National President has called on the Catholic Bishops' Conference to summon Father Prof Afful-Broni to order since he became very treacherous and vindictive.
"There is an urgent need for neutral people to lead the leadership of the STE and the board," he added.
11 senior executives licensed
The 11 main teachers who have been dismissed are Professors Mawutor Avoke, Avea Nsoh, Samuel Ofori Bekoe, Samuel Atintono, Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, Emmanuel Sarpong, Phillip Omoregie Osamende, Wisdom Hodzi, Shine Agbevivi, Mr. Kennedy Bodua-Mango, and Mr. Lawrence Quarshie.
5 senior non-teaching staff members
The five dismissed senior non-teaching staff are Dr. Theophilus S. Ackorlie, Frank Owusu Boateng, Mr. Ing. Daniel Tetteh, Mary Dzimey and Sena Dake.
3 licensed senior executives
The other three dismissed executives are Dennis Marfo, Ebenezer Bondzie and David Adjaho.
4 staff suspended and downgraded
The four staff members who were suspended and demoted are MM. Charles Edem Bedra (group member), Francis Amoni (group staff), Epiphany Agbeshie (group member) and Eldad Tetteh (group staff).
Dr. Mensah said the UTAG National Executive Committee would monitor the situation for a period of time in order to find a lasting solution and end the victimization of lecturers and staff.
He warned that UTTG would advise if he saw no end in sight.
He pointed out that UTAG had more claims for the success of the ETS than any board chairman and vice-chancellor, because they hold positions for a short period of time, whereas for UTAG, it is about A business for life.
