Reverend Steve Mensah, General Supervisor of the Charismatic Evangelical Ministry (CEM) in Accra, has launched a project to welcome and support thousands of people with disabilities in Ghana.

Reverend Steve Mensah is one of Ghana's renowned evangelists, renowned for his immense charity work in Ghana and beyond.

Over the weekend, hundreds of Ghanaians converged on the charismatic evangelical ministry to witness the official unveiling of the church's bold plan to build what is called the "Village of Capacity" on an area of ​​2 000 acres in Ningo, in the Greater Accra region.

The unveiling comes three years after the Charismatic Ministry of Evangelism's chief supervisor, Reverend Steve Mensah, a pbadionate philanthropist and partner, has launched his flagship program "Aid Day" in Accra.

Over the years, the 'Help Day' program has seen the church and its partners provide support for people with disabilities.

On August 27, 2016, people with disabilities gathered at the Independence Square to receive free medical care, food supplies, clothing, home supplies and much more.

A similar event was held in the same place in 2017 and in 2018 the Day of Help program was held in Tamale, Northern Region.

Reverend Steve Mensah has long dreamed of extending the support of people with disabilities to a more strategic and long-term solution. This led him to consider a community where people with disabilities could live in decency, among other things.

The launch of CEM Ability Village has been part of CEM's plans for the past three years. Those who attended the event were excited and amazed by the magnitude and magnitude of the dream and by the means it will take to achieve it.

The project

The first phase of the village CEM Ability is estimated at $ 85 million; and will be a community that provides people with disabilities free and / or heavily subsidized medical care, education, vocational training, housing and many more.

Speaking at the event, Ghana's President of the National Council of People with Disabilities, Mr. Yaw Debrah, praised Reverend Steve and the church and underlined the council's commitment to support the project until its implementation.

He called on well-meaning Ghanaians to mobilize to support people with disabilities and the project.

Ms. Farida Bedwei, a Ghanaian software engineer and cofounder of Software, a Ghanaian company specializing in advanced technologies, asked the state to stop ticking boxes in her approach to issues. relating to people with disabilities.

She emphasized that people with disabilities have a lot to offer if the right environment is created for them.

"To do it right, it will take more than understanding the fate of people with disabilities; this will require financial and non-financial support from the state and the private sector " she says.

Cynthia Morrison, Minister of State for Parity, Child Protection and Social Welfare, also attended the meeting. The minister, who also serves as MP for the Agona West constituency, urged parents with children with disabilities to be guided by faith, knowing that every individual can do a great deal, despite challenges.

She said the government is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities receive the help they need to improve their lives and those of society.

Former President John Mahama, who attended the project's launch, encouraged Ghanaians to support people with disabilities, saying that people with disabilities should be supported and not pitied.

He affirmed his willingness to support the idea and vision of Reverend Steve Mensah to create a modern community for people with disabilities.
