The Volta Regional Chamber of Chiefs condemned the publication of offensive educational materials for use by primary school students against sheep, demanding its destruction.

The learning materials in question are “History of Ghana” and “Golden English” written respectively by Badu Nkansah and Okyere Baafi Alexander, whom some lawmakers and Ghanaians have described as “offensive, divisive and arson” to people coming from. the Volta region.

The Volta Region House of Chiefs (VRHC) stated that “Some of the contents of said book, which throw derogatory allusions and innuendos to Ewes, are, to say the least, distasteful and dishonorable to the authors and editors of said book. equipment. intended to educate the younger generation of this country. “

One of the phrases in the manual that generated a public outcry on social media is “Efo has accepted and prepared the juju for the players.”

The VRHC “considers it highly reprehensible for those responsible for this offensive publication to harbor such vile thoughts about their fellow citizens of Ghana in the 21st century”.

In light of this, the Speaker of the House of Volta Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, in a Monday press release called on the parties responsible for “the offensive publication to withdraw it from circulation and destroy all parts of the offending material. “

According to the statement, any publication that demonstrates sectarianism and tribal prejudices will be condemned without reservation by the institution.

The Volta House of Chief therefore requests an unreserved apology from the authors and editors of this basic material to be returned to all Ewe speaking citizens of Ghana.

“In addition, we urge other ethnic groups in this country to condemn these divisive publications, which only serve as a recipe for chaos and disunity,” the statement added.

However, if the manual in question was not removed and destroyed, the Volta House of Chiefs undertook to seek redress from the appropriate judicial institution.

“Finally, and in the event that this misguided publication is discovered somewhere after our request to be removed from circulation, we hereby notify that the Chiefs and people of Ewe ethnicity will take appropriate legal steps to ensure that these perpetrators of mischief works on the right side of the law, ”the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, Mr. Badu Nkansah offered a wholehearted apology to Ghanaians and all those who have been affected in one way or another.

Once again, the publishing company apologized and promised to investigate and locate other copies of the manual that have illegally been on the market.
