Dr. Agnes Adu, Executive Director of the Trade Fair Center, shared it on Thursday, May 30 at the press conference of the Ministry of Information in Accra.
According to her, some tenants owed amounts ranging from 50 000 Gh ¢ to 60 000 Gh ¢.
She stated that, even if such amounts were due to the Trade Fair Center, as of 2015, the electrical connection to the center had to be cut because it could not pay its electricity bills.
In addition, the Trade Fair Center's water supply was cut in 2015 due to non-payment of bills.
When she took office in August 2017, she stated that only two out of 200 tenants had a valid lease agreement with the Trade Fair Center, which meant the others were operating "illegally" and not paying rent. .
As a result, she stated that she was forced to set a 90-day deadline to recover the sums due to the company.
Until now, she said, the Trade Fair Center has managed to collect 800,000 Gh ¢ from its debtors.
Dr. Adu blamed officials of the Trade Fair Center, then ruled by the government of the National Democratic Congress (NCA) led by President John Mahama, for not having control over the affairs.
She said the center was grossly mismanaged, with tenants being allowed to operate as they wished.
