It costs more to rent a beach hut in one of the best bathing establishments in the country than to pay the monthly rent for an apartment in a suburb of London.
Research done on the Howsy online rental site has examined the average cost of renting a beach hut in some of the most exclusive and best resorts in England, including Mudeford, Whitstable, Sandbanks, Southwold and Bournemouth.
The survey suggests that on average, it costs £ 1,486 to rent a beach hut in these areas. And that's 42% more than the average national rent for all properties in England.
The most expensive beach hut is in Mudeford, Dorset, where the average monthly rental cost is £ 3,816.
That's more than the average rent in plush capitals like Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Camden, the City of London and Hammersmith and Fulham.
Meanwhile, for an average monthly cost of £ 1,184, a beach hut in Whitstable costs the same as renting a home in Cambridge, Winchester or Brentwood in Esbad.
The Sandbanks of Poole, home of famous footballers, will cost you an average of £ 920 a month.
Monthly rental fees of £ 788 beach huts in Southwold, Suffolk, would cover the rent of an average home in Solihull or Medway in Kent.
A Bournemouth beach hut (£ 720) is comparable to the homes of Birmingham or Newcastle.

"All this is an integral part of the dynamics of rental, demand and supply.It is a beach hut, a place of parking or a property, if you have the best badet and the best location, there will always be someone willing to pay to rent it.
"Personally, I would prefer a deck chair on the beach."
