The culprit sold meters to unsuspecting customers
Kpando police arrested Maxwell Boateng, an electrician, for allegedly installing and selling Power Distribution Services (PDS) meters to failed customers.
Boateng was hired by a contractor to replace defective meters for PDS customers, but it misappropriated and sold the meters to unsuspecting customers.
Mr. Francis Opoku Manu, PDS Public Relations Manager for the Volta Region, who informed the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said that the police had collected information on 12 March 2019 about Boateng's activities and the Had stopped.
He added that the police had identified 16 meters hijacked by Boateng and had treated him in court.
The PRO said Ms. Phanney Adiko, Acting District Director of Kpando PDS Ghana Limited, said the police regularly monitored door-to-door and stopped new PDS meters.
He said Mr. Delali Oklu, PDS regional director general, congratulated the police, adding that efforts were being made to identify and prosecute all those involved in such acts.
