Residents of Ashanti region only see progress when NDC is in power – Mahama

Democratic National Congress 2020 presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama says development in the Ashanti region is only accelerated when the NDC is in power.

In a meeting with identifiable groups in the Ashanti region, the former president observed that industry players complained of suffering under the current administration of the nuclear power plant.

He is confident that the people of Ashanti would vote for the NDC in the 2024 elections, as the NPP government has disappointed them with the developments.

It comes after the presidential candidate embarks on a thank you tour of the Ashanti region.

John Mahama said he would be at the polling station to observe the 2024 election as part of ballot vigilance.

Meanwhile, NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said the party has a chance of winning 40% of the vote in the Ashanti region in the 2024 general election.

He says, however, that this can only be achieved if the party stays away from tribal politics in the region.

National Party Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said winning the Ashanti region is a program the party cannot play with.

He explained that anyone who demonstrates a self-centered approach, especially in branch elections, will be treated.

Mr Ampofo says it is essential that the party be united in its goals.
