The inhabitants of Nsawam and its environments are heavily infected with hepatitis "B"
This was brought to light after a three-day screening exercise in the area.
More than 300 residents of Nsawam and surrounding areas have benefited from the free screening exercise.
Residents have been screened for various diseases and conditions such as fibroids, prostate cancer, spleen cancer, liver disease, kidney disease, blood sugar, hypertension, HIV, heart problems and others.
The three-day exercise brought the team to communities such as Nsawam, Otu-kwadwo and Adoagyiri.
The exercise was organized by the Ghana Grikob Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO), which focuses on the empowerment of women.
Nsawam / Adoagyiri MP Frank Annoh-Dompreh badured people with a diagnosis of chronic illness to seek treatment.
The founder of the Grikob Foundation in Ghana, Irene Okyere, thanked the residents for coming in large numbers to use the services that her outfit offered them.
She advised people to be aware of their health, to make health their number one priority for their health issues, and to periodically undergo checks to determine their health status.
