Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, invited Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Reverend Father, Professor Anthony Afful-Broni, to reinstate all the dismissed professors of university.

Mr Afenyo-Markin said the V-C should adopt a reconciling attitude and pay tribute to the goodwill shown by the aggrieved parties in the recent stalemate that led to the temporary closure of the university.

His appeal follows the reinstatement of three university lectures (Professors Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Emmanuel Osei Sarpong and Frimpong Kwaku Duku), accused of misbehavior and insubordination.

Their dismissal caused an uproar on the campus.

At least 30 university staff, including 23 instructors, have lost their jobs in the last year.

Addressing Clbad News parliamentary correspondent Ekow Annan, Mr. Afenyo-Markin called on the V-C to ensure total peace on campus by reinstating all the lecturers and non-teaching staff being fired.

He said: "We must solve the problem once and for all. As far as I know, meetings in which I participated and conclusions reached, all those who were fired as a result of a disagreement with the new management in one way or other. 39, another were supposed to be reinstated and I think the vice-chancellor is well aware of this.

"He and I know that these people, most of them, were considered supporters of Avoke. We have all been charged with ensuring reconciliation. Reconciliation should not be done in a way that does not give a positive impression. Dr. Bekoe is supposed to be reinstated, I do not see why Bekoe should be left out, I do not see why Agbesi will always have to stay at home in suspension. I do not see why Dr. Duku would be reinstated and others left out, "he said, explaining that in the case of Mr. Quarshie, the circumstances in which his term ended were unfair and that therefore, the right things will be done … "

Mr. Afenyo-Markin's position echoes Dr. Duku's idea that the university's board of directors engages in "selective justice".

According to Dr. Duku, all licensed lecturers must be reinstated rather than all three.

Reacting to his reinstatement in an interview with Benjamin Akakpo at the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Clbad91.3FM on Thursday, April 4, 2019, Mr. Duku, also president of the Union Section of the Ghana Union of Teachers (UTAG), said that he was unhappy that his other colleagues dismissed by the VC have not been reinstated.

Dr. Duku said, "I will be the happiest man if all those who were fired were reinstated. In the current state of affairs, there seems to be a selective justice where, in their opinion, the leaders of the badociation and those who had the word should be reinstated, while those who remained silent during all that was victims of these illegal dismissals are at home. I am not sure to be the happiest person. "

When asked if the recovery of all laid-off university employees would make him happy, Dr. Duku responded, "This should be ideal. [situation] because if you look at why these employees were fired, we think they could have been pardoned as well. As a leader, I am not sure of being happy to be reinstated while my friends and colleagues are at home. So, I think the best way was to give this broader amnesty to everyone. "
