Bolgatanga, July 12, GNA – The Social
The Ghana Justice Movement (SJMG), a group of socialists, called on the government
to restore the Republic Day of Ghana on a holiday to give real meaning to
the freedom of the country.

"The SJMG notes with deep regret and
disappointment His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, badent of the public
Holidays Act (Amendment) of 2019 of 16 April 2019 (Law No. 986) and its concierge
the effect of the feast of the Republic which is no longer a holiday.

"We strongly condemn the decision to
reduce the status of the Day of the Republic of Ghana and request that it be
restored and given even more importance than our Independence Day
celebrations. "

These were contained in a signed communiqué
with copy to the Ghana Press Agency by Mr. Aidan Adongo and Mr. Nyeya Yen,
interim leaders of the movement.

On July 1, 1960, Ghana became a republic
which meant that the country had officially broken ties with colonialism
masters and was completely independent to manage his own affairs.

Until this year, July 1 has always been
observed at the national level as a holiday.

The statement said "by reducing this scale
year of the Republic Day, the government confirms that we are not independent
neither masters of our own destiny "and demanded that July 1 be restored
and given more importance than the celebration of the Independence Day.

He stated that "the SJMG has supported in 2017 that the
the status of Republic Day should be raised beyond mere respect for the
the elderly. Our vision has been temporarily strengthened when President Nana Addo
Dankwa Akuffo Addo said at the G20 summit in Germany in 2017 that very little has
almost a century in Ghana's economy.

"Ghana still operates what he described as
the economy of Guggisberg – we depend mainly on the export of primary products
products – cocoa, wood, minerals and now oil and gas – for our export
earnings."

Then, on the 11th of March, 1964, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah,
first president of the country, formulated a seven-year development plan,
once completed, Ghana would have prospered in a highly organized manner.
agricultural and industrial program efficient and effective, but in less than two
years, he was overthrown and "introduced the decline and predominance of Ghana
nightmare."

The statement called the progressive groups
pbad over their differences and come together under one umbrella to provide
an alternative to the new patriotic party / National Democratic Congress
domination of the political process.

"The SJMG has reaffirmed its commitment and
determination to organize young people, women and other marginalized people to
lead the process of building a peaceful and prosperous Ghana, a country in
where there will be work and happiness.

"The SJMG remains convinced that it is only a matter of
under a socialist Ghana there will be prosperity for all Ghanaians, "he
I said.

The press release indicates that the SJMG has been created
in 2017 in order to build a society of generational thinkers, a
members economically able to exploit the potential of working young people
alongside the older ones in a transparent and responsible environment.
