The National Labor Commission (NLC) ordered the staff of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to suspend the withdrawal of their services and return to their jobs with immediate effect.
The Commission’s decision follows a meeting with various stakeholders following a withdrawal from service by ALN workers for allegations of imminent danger under section 119 (1) of Law 651.
In a press release seen by JoyNews, the National Labor Commission called the action of ALN staff “unjust and unjustified”.
Earlier today, the general secretary of the Union of Finance, Business and Service Employees of the ALN, Benjamin Mingle, in an interview with JoyNews, said the Authority’s administration had failed. to settle the winners of major lottery games across the country.
He therefore called for the immediate dismissal of Kofi Osei Ameyaw, CEO of the National Lottery Association.
However, after hearing the various aggrieved parties on Monday, the National Labor Commission ordered all ALN workers to return to work and “ensure that the draw for today, March 1 2021, takes place ”.
In response to these issues, the NLC further instructed the Authority and Union management to organize a meeting by Friday March 5 at the latest to discuss the grievances presented by the workers.
“Management must ensure the safety of workers and provide security accordingly to ensure their safety,” the NLC concluded.
