According to the Reuters news agency, Renault has alerted French prosecutors about suspicious payments made to a Renault-Nissan trading partner in Oman, under the control of former managing director, Carlos Ghosn.
Reuters reported Monday that a Renault investigation had revealed that the builder had paid millions of euros described as incentives to dealers to the Omani distributor over a five-year period starting around 2011.
A large part of the funds would have been sent to a Lebanese company controlled by Ghosn employees.
Earlier, Renault had informed prosecutors of the possibility that Ghosn had embezzled money from the company for his wedding at the Palace of Versailles.
