Gridco revealed The pirated pylon transmits the energy of Karpower and AKSA to the national network

It appeared that some saboteurs used corrosive substances to destroy one of the pylons of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).

Nana Kofi Oppong Damoah, head of communications and public affairs at the Ministry of Energy, revealed it during the morning show of Adom FM, Dwaso Nsem.

The pirated pylon, located near the headquarters of GRIDCo, which is feeding Karpower and AKSA to the national grid, he noted, was installed seven months ago.

Mr Damoah said the bolts and nuts holding one of the pylons together had been removed after what appeared to be a bath consisting of a part of it containing a corrosive substance.

Nana Kofi Oppong Damoah said the saboteurs had removed the bolts and nuts that held one of the pylons.

"The GRIDCo workers went to the site Monday to discover that the pylon had been mown, it is very strange," he said.

The head of communication stated that it was obvious that the saboteurs were intent on tarnishing the image of the Akufo-Addo administration, especially at a time when the country is facing failures of current.

"When we went to the site, we detected the same corrosive chemicals on the other towers along the line, which are very dangerous for our energy sector," he lamented.

Despite this, Mr. Damoah said that they had put security measures in place to prevent the repetition of such an unfortunate incident.

He was also convinced that the culprits would be found and prosecuted to deter others.
