The time was when the police was a joke standing in the popular Hindi cinema. They would always be the last to arrive at the scene of a crime armed with handcuffs for the villain and his henchmen. Knowledge of this dog-eared trope could be helpful in case someone would actually be interested in making sense of Arjun Patiala. It is highly unlikely that the film excites too many spectators to make this effort.
Featured singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is a beginner and beaver-driven sub-inspector who is sent to a small town in Punjab to rid him of crime, Arjun Patiala goes beyond the slander with which the cops of Hindi cinema have to live for decades. He transforms the protagonist of the policeman and other members of his force into insignificant clowns that make you cringe rather than laugh.
The film directed by Rohit Jugraj is the kind of comic film in which it is difficult to know if the police arrive, leave or just go around in circles. The antics of the hero and his teammate, played by Varun Sharma, are so insensitive that the public wonders why those responsible initially thought that the misadventures of the foolish duo would add hilarity to the film.

The posture of self-deprecating film is also ruined. He does little to get him out of the pits. Arjun Patiala opens with a screenwriter-director (Abhishek Bannerjee) who convinces a prospective producer (Pankaj Tripathi) of the commercial potential of a scenario that he's stuffed with five villains, a role for Sunny Leone, a free item number and four other songs, in addition to a policeman-hero and his romantic interest.

It tells a story that makes no serious attempt to be even remotely sensible. Judo champion Arjun Patiala (Dosanjh) goes to the police for his physical prowess and is appointed head of the Ferozpur outpost. In addition to finding a jester, Onida Singh (Sharma) as a lackey, he falls head over heels for local television journalist Ritu Randhawa (Kriti Sanon), who has a comprehensive database of local criminals. Recalled by his idol, DSP Amarjeet Singh (Ronit Roy), of his mission to eliminate the crime of Ferozpur, Arjun unleashes gang wars in the region in order to let criminals, including one named Sakool (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), do his dirty work for him. As the death toll increases and the number of criminals decreases, the incredible scribe, who is now as well struck by Arjun as by her, threatens to blow up her plan. The speech is continued by MPP Praapti Makkar (Seema Pahwa), who clearly explains to all those calling to Ferozpur.
If a riot of laughter is what Arjun Patiala tries to be, it fails miserably because neither the scenario nor the actors, some of whom are not bad at all if one relies on their reputation, have an idea of the direction they take.

Diljit Dosanjh does his best to set up some kind of comical timing, but the lines he's forced to pronounce for going out sound desperately insane. It is never easy to make inefficiency effective as a source of joy. Arjun Patiala is more than stupid. Dosanjh's dialogue difficulties in drinking scenes are only superficially amusing.
Varun Sharma is the lieutenant and the ruthless bad who drags for the sole purpose of injecting lightness into the proceedings when the film may turn into too solemn territory. Her pranks do not pay because they are more stupid than pucks. Kriti Sanon has many sequences, but she does not succeed in counting her presence in the absence of a well-defined role.
Arjun Patiala It's a far too big game to give a public in search of a sincere sense of humor that its purpose is really useful. This rigamarole of cops and criminals is never in the game.
