Many popular TV shows are interrupted between seasons, but a show rarely goes away for long periods. In contrast, Adult Swim's popular Rick & Morty animated series appeared much less frequently than most series. There was a gap of 18 months between the second and third seasons of the series, and the preparation for season 4 was even longer: more than two years would have pbaded before his arrival in November. Show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland talked about the upcoming season before attending San Diego Comic-Con and badured fans that they would never have to wait another season.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harmon and Roiland discussed the protracted contract negotiations that delayed Season 4 but ultimately resulted in an agreement securing 70 more episodes of Rick & Morty.
"I think it's safe to say, without fear of being wrong, that the gap between seasons 3 and 4 will be the longest and the last time that it is so ridiculous as ever" said Harmon. "I do not know how fast we can do it, but I know it will never be so long again. There was so much to do before we even started season 4, and it's really safe to say literally writing season 5 by finishing season 4, just to force us to meet a certain schedule. "
Both men confirmed that season 4 would have 10 episodes. Despite their reluctance to reveal many details, they left a glimpse of what fans can expect. "Without revealing anything, we have serialized elements that we record from time to time and that are scattered over episodic episodes marked," Roiland said. "For fans of the series, they will want to watch them in order. [And] I would definitely say watching season 3 before season 4. "
The SDCC panel also brought the first images of Rick & Morty Season 4. He presents Morty and Jerry with a new character played by Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi. We also had a bit more discussion about what to expect from this season, how Season 5 will run much faster than Season 4 – the work is already underway – and other small ones. things that should excite fans.
Roiland also talked about the biggest incident of the latest appearance of SDCC in the series, in 2017: the controversy regarding McDonald's sauce Szechuan. The fast-food giant has released a limited-edition version of the sauce, which was last sold in the 1990s and featured in a Rick & Morty season 3 episode. Unfortunately, the demand was so strong that many fans were unable to control it. "In addition to being a bit odd for everyone, it was a crazy thing we had never predicted," Roiland said. "This joke on our show would have brought a gigantic, multi-billion dollar company to bring back a sauce that they served in the late '90s."
Although the date of Rick & Morty Season 4 has not been announced yet, the most enthusiastic fans will be able to discover one of the new episodes before its television screening at the Adult Swim Festival. It takes place in Los Angeles from Friday, November 15 to Saturday, November 16, and is described by Adult Swim as a "unique 360-degree fan experience".
