At least seven people were arrested by police in the northern region following acts of violence in Salaga, which on Tuesday torched the constituency office of the NPP and some party billboards.
The suspects were arrested Wednesday at dawn in Salaga to help with further investigations, police said.
Police in the region are investigating the case and the process of identifying and arresting more suspects is underway.
Some young members of the New Patriotic Party torched the party's constituency office after the announcement of Damongo as the capital of the Savannah area.
The raging and furious youths also chased the riding president, claiming to be disappointed by the president's decision to designate Damongo as the capital of the new Savannah region.
Many of the party's property in the area has also been destroyed by angry youth.
President Akufo-Addo decided on Tuesday that Damongo would be the capital of the new Savannah region.
