The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) is setting up emergency response and first aid stations on all major motorways in the country to provide an immediate response to road accident victims.
According to the National Road Safety Commission, the main highways of the country will now have emergency response stations at strategic points, to quickly help victims of road accidents.
The initiative is setting up around 100 emergency response and first aid posts, according to the information gathered. YEN.com.gh.
3news.com states that this initiative is part of the steps to minimize deaths resulting from excessive bleeding or injury related to an accident.
Eight of these stations are already complete and fully equipped with medical items, two-way portable VHF radio, safety shoes, bicycles and other items to effectively manage an emergency response unit.

Some posts are located in Asuboi, Bunso Junction, Asankare and Juaso on the Accra-Kumasi highway; Toje, near Kbadeh and Nogokpo on the Accra-Aflao highway; and Okyereko and Gomoa Ankamu, near Apam Junction, on the Accra-Takoradi highway.
These eight emergency and first aid stations will cooperate with major hospitals on the road corridors of the Accra-Kumasi, Accra-Aflao and Accra-Takoradi highways.
The project is funded by the World Bank under the Transport Sector Project (TSP) and aims to address the needs of victims of the accident as part of the National Road Safety Strategy III (2011-2020). ).

The various positions will be managed by the Ghana Red Cross with support from NADMO, St. John Ambulance, National Fire Services and Ghana Police 24 hours a day.
