Roberto Firmino hopes not to have had an omen in the Champions League after a surprise evening for the Liverpool striker.

Firmino was part of a strong Brazilian group held by the 1-1 draw against Panama in a friendly match Saturday.

The match took place at Estadio do Dragao, in Porto, where Liverpool will visit next month for his second leg in the quarter-finals of the Champions League against the Portuguese.

Firmino played for an hour before being replaced by Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City.

His Liverpool teammates, Alison Becker and Fabinho, were among the unused substitutes.

Brazil took advantage after 32 minutes over Lucas Paqueta (AC Milan), but Panamanian defender Adolfo Machado found the same level four minutes later.

Panama qualified for last summer's World Cup, losing all three group games, including a 6-1 win over England.

Brazil will be the next player Tuesday to continue preparations for this summer's Copa America with a friendly match in the Czech Republic.
