Oliver Burke made a promising start to life at Celtic.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers told the Scottish Sun that winger Oliver Burke was unlikely to be recruited permanently this summer.
The Bhoys were busy with the January transfer window, making seven new hires to strengthen Rodgers' team for the present and the future.
One of those additions was Burke, a West Bromwich Albion offender, who had struggled earlier this season with only 46 minutes of the championship for the Baggies.
Celtic has signed a contract allowing it to lend the 21-year-old player until the end of the season. He has already started well at Parkhead.
Burke scored three goals in five league games for Celtic, including the second goal of midweek victory against Hibernian.
The Scottish international seems to flourish under Rodgers, and the fans are dreaming of the signing of former Nottingham Forest winger and RB Leipzig this summer.
However, Rodgers admitted that it was unlikely that such an agreement would be reached, even suggesting that his wages could increase if West Brom won a promotion in the Premier League.
Rodgers even revealed that he had spoken to Burke of the former Celtic defender, Malky Mackay, and had pledged to continue to improve Burke before his eventual return to West Brom this summer .
"I think so," said Rodgers to the question of whether Burke was "in the air". It would be great for Celtic if he did it. But the reality is that the improvements it will bring here over the next six months are likely to excite West Brom. If they are promoted, his salary will probably change anyway. So he is helping us for the moment and we are helping them.
"I talked about Oliver to Malky Mackay, because he had spent time with him in Leipzig. Malky gave me a glimpse of this experience. It was as if Oliver needed time. He needed training and help. There is no doubt that there is an absolutely brilliant player in there. We all know that he can run like the wind, that he is powerful and has a physique, but what did he do naturally? It was the little that we needed to shine. "
"There are things that he can do better. In this short period of time, I can see a lot of changes in his game without taking away all the good things he has to run, work and hurry. He is good technically and I am delighted with him. It's a big challenge for us to help it grow and we benefit from it, "he added.
