Roger Federer made his comeback win at Roland Garros with a dominant victory over Lorenzo Sonego in the first round.
The Swiss, Grand Slam winner 20 times, playing at Roland Garros for the first time in four years, beat the Italian 6-2 6-4 6-4.
He came to a standing ovation on court Philippe Chatrier and went with the crowd on his feet, delighted.
The 37-year-old will face Oscar Otte, 145th in the world, the big German loser, in the second round.
"I knew I could play very well on clay and I'm very happy to have made it in sets today," said Federer.
"I missed the French crowd, so thank you for your warm welcome today."
