Reigns was struck by the terrible disease for the second time 11 years after its remission last October and suddenly dropped out of the World Championship to begin treatment.
The Big Dog felt very intimidated by the disclosure of such sensitive information to the crowd, which made him feel ashamed at the time, even as he was fighting for a foosball because they did not agree with the way he was booked.
However, the former WWE Champion followed his plan and quickly realized that it was the right thing to do because he was getting an incredible boost of love and support from the WWE universe.
Reigns said to the BBC: "It was a night of mixed emotions, you know.
"On the one hand, I was terrified because I share this news with the world.
"A huge wave of opinions and criticisms that I knew would come to me.
"By cons, I was excited to finally share this huge part of me, something that I kept secret.
"To be honest, once I made the announcement, once I felt the crowd, and on top of that, once the night was over, I received comments via social media, Twitter, Instagram, etc. it is the outpouring of love and support that made me understand that it was the right thing to do. "
Reigns completed a miraculous recovery just four months later and returned full time to the WWE.
The former Universal champion had even played a big singles match at WrestleMania 35 while he was beating Drew McIntyre.
Fans have also changed attitudes towards him because his story inspired them so much that they now encourage him whenever he happens.
The 34-year-old grappler is now ready for a big fight against Shane McMahon at the WWE Super ShowDown on June 7th at King Abdullah International Stadium in Saudi Arabia.
Reigns also competed in Money in the Bank where he destroyed Elias in just 10 seconds.
He is also expected to face McMahon and McIntyre in a two-on-one game against the extreme rules on July 14th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
