Ronaldo was decisive in scoring after 70 minutes of play as Sami Khedira opened the goal in Modena with German compatriot Emre Can in the final three minutes of the match.

The Serie A champions had been held by Parma last week despite double the Portuguese striker.

At present, they left Napoli in second position, after Carlo Ancelotti's team was held nowhere in front of Fiorentina on Saturday.

Paulo Dybala started again on the bench arriving late for the champions, to help set the third goal. Coach Mbadimiliano Allegri said that he needed to find the right balance.

"Ronaldo and Dybala can certainly play together and they will, but we need everyone to work hard to maintain the balance of the team," Allegri said.

"It all depends on your opponent." Sbaduolo has a solid midfield so I had to balance my team this way today.

"The players are disappointed, but you have to sit on the bench every now and then to recharge the batteries and find the right mental strength."

Juventus started slowly with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saving twice in the first minutes, defending champions Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.

The pair is fighting to be fit for Juventus' last trip on his 16th trip to Atletico Madrid in 10 days.

Juventus stood out when Sbaduolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli rushed to parry a shot from Ronaldo, leaving Khedira free to kick off the rebound after 23 minutes.

This was the second goal in the league of the German international, having scored the first goal of season A against Chievo on August 18th.

Consigli denied Federico Bernardeschi just before the break, with Khedira's head held high.

Portuguese star Ronaldo made the best of 70 minutes to reach the corner of Pjanic and score his fourth goal in his last three league games, which earned him 20 goals for Juventus in all competitions.

The 34-year-old celebrated this event by imitating the celebration of Dybala's "mask" goal.

Argentina's Dybala came seven minutes from the substitutes' bench with Can and was involved in preparing for the last goal, while Ronaldo proved his help.

Inter Milan are third – 20 points behind Juventus – after beating Parma 1-0 on Saturday, for their first win in 2019 in the league.

AC Milan, its rival, is only four points behind Inter, after defeating Cagliari 3-0, while newcomers Lucas Paqueta and Krzysztof Piatek both score.

Cagliari defender Luca Ceppitelli gave the home team the lead after 12 minutes, scoring an unfortunate goal.

Brazilian Paqueta flew to second goal after 22 minutes. Polish striker Piatek again found the goal after 62 for his fourth goal of all competitions.

Paqueta dedicated his first goal in Italy to the ten victims of the fire that ravaged the buildings of the Flamengo club in Rio, where he began his career.

"It was a very difficult time for me," said the 21-year-old.

"I live a dream of playing for Milan and getting my first goal in Serie A, but it was also a dream for me to be in the Flamengo Youth Academy and I can not forget those who have lived the same thing."

The battle for Europe remains tight: Atalanta, Rome and Lazio are only at one point of AC Milan.

The Bergamo team fought 2-1 against SPAL. Roma beat Chievo 3-0 and Lazio beat Empoli 1-0 during the week.
