ROOM: "Double track" if parliament is too small – Ben Ephson MEPs | Policy

Pollster Ben Ephson told the Ghanaian parliament to set up a dual-track system if he thought the current chamber could not contain MPs.

The editor of Daily Dispatch told Clbad FM on Thursday, July 11, 2019, "They [legislators] should go double track if they think the place is too small.

He explained that the Ghanaian colonial masters, the British, whose democracy and government are modeled on a system, have parliamentarians sitting on "benches", wondering why the Ghanaian deputies want a $ 200 million room.

Parliament finally had to suspend its plans to build the new structure after an avalanche of public fury.

Social media – Facebook and Twitter – were inundated with harsh criticism of the Ghanaian parliament and its leadership in the area.

Some legislators, particularly minorities, such as the MP for North Tongu, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Ras Mubarak, MP Kumbungu; and Tamale North MP Alhbadan Suhuyini described the decision as useless.

In addition, some legislators of the majority, including Samuel Ayeh-Paye, Ayensuano; and Mr. Patrick Boamah, Central Okaikwei, also stated that a new room was not necessary.
