Land and Natural Resources Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor said the government’s ban on the harvest, trade, export and import of rosewood remains unresolved.
He said President Akufo-Addo’s government remains committed to tackling the threat head-on in a transparent manner.
The minister also assured that the suspicion of rosewood species smuggled through our ports from the West African region will be the subject of a thorough investigation.
He added that the confiscation of some of the rosewoods is sufficient proof that the measures put in place are working.
“I have since written to the Minister of National Security to call for a full-scale investigation into the cartels behind the Rosewood affair, and we will ensure that the law follows its course,” the lawmaker revealed.
