Ross Barkley sends message to Chelsea board regarding Maurizio Sarri's future | Football | sport

Chelsea has been off since about a month and Sarri is facing the bag if she loses heavily today.

Chelsea have lost to Arsenal, Tottenham, Bournemouth, Manchester City and Manchester United since the start of the year and Sarri lost fans who chanted "f *** Sarri-ball" last week.

Barkley insists that he still has the players and thinks that the Italian will come well after a difficult first season – just as Pep Guardiola did in City.

The English midfielder thinks his job in Naples should give credit to the bank and hopes he will have time.

He said: "You can see in Naples how much he improved the players.

"We have had a period of ups and downs, but we are confident.

"If you compare the first season of Pep Guardiola, they have had a period of ups and downs."

Chelsea dropped to sixth in the Premier League and may miss the Champions League for a second year in a row.

They will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final today, after bowing 6-0 to them two weeks ago.

This will help shape their season and Sarri could disappear on Monday if another case turned out to be one-sided.

Sarri however thinks that quick judgment on his work is hard – because they sit just below Arsenal.

"We are at a point of the top four, the same points as Arsenal," he said.

"People say that Arsenal is fine, so we are going a little better because we are in the final.

"And yet our season is a disaster. I do not understand."

Still, Sarri claimed that it would only take one hour to train for the city's shock.

"In this match, for 30 minutes, I saw a very worried team," Sarri said of the victory over Malmo on Thursday.

"Without trust. So, I do not want to support them.

"We will only prepare the match on Saturday. I want to see something more free, so we will prepare the match in 60 minutes, no more. "
