The Rotary Club of Accra-Labone to commission a 500,000 GH ₵ underground water pipe system in Dokrochiwa, Ayensuano district, Eastern region, as part of commemoration activities of its 20th anniversary next year.
The Rotary Club of Accra-Labone, which was chartered on June 29, 2001, celebrates its 20th anniversary on June 29, 2021 and has organized a series of events, including the commissioning of the underground water pipeline network on June 27 March 2021 to mark the occasion.
Addressing the anniversary media launch on Saturday, December 19 in Accra, Rotary Club of Accra-Labone President Doreen Ashiboe Mensah said the six-month celebrations will feature fun events as well as charity events, including the commissioning of a renovated 30-bed Nsawam Children’s Hospital on April 30, 2021.
She said the celebrations were themed: “Two Decades of Service Above You: Rotary Opens Up Opportunities” and that they will be funded through fundraising events, member donations as well as collaborations with other organizations.

Program overview
Anniversary Planning Committee Chairman Jerry Otchi said the celebrations will begin with the commissioning of a borehole in Alavanyo at the Ga West Municipal Assembly on January 29, 2021, followed by an event of fundraiser called Tour De Labone Cycling.
He added that the club will also host the first PAG Ralph Memorial Lecture in honor of one of its founding members on April 15, 2021.
Other events planned for the occasion include a Beach Fiesta on May 2, 2021, a cruise on the Dodi Princess on May 15, 2021, the screening of a documentary on the club on June 24, 2021, a cocktail party birthday on June 29, 2021, and a birthday dinner dance on July 3, 2021.
Fund raising
Fundraiser led by former club president Esquire Lamtiig Apanga at the launch raised over GHS 8,100 in pledges for the anniversary celebrations.
The club also unveiled the official logo for its 20th anniversary celebrations.
