Roy Hodgson makes an interesting point on Wilfried Zaha after Liverpool's defeat of Crystal Palace

Roy Hodgson thinks that a Crystal Palace inspired by Wilfried Zaha deserved a famous victory from Anfield.

The Eagles' boss was frustrated by what he claimed was an unbelievable chance for Liverpool, as his team stumbled against a defeat, despite an energetic demonstration.

Hodgson felt that the Reds' fourth goal, which ended up being the winner, should have been ruled out of the game.

But that's Liverpool's third goal – a mistake by veteran goalkeeper Julian Speroni – that he scored the most.

He said: "The third goal essentially wins the game in Liverpool. It was very easy not to concede. And it's really, really cruel to him. He did not deserve that. The team no longer.

Roy Hodgson says Wilfired Zaha deserves more for his performance at Anfield

"Unfortunately, it's a mistake the goalkeeper who, in my opinion, really highlights the cruelty of this game. Back to 2-2, it's a good performance.

"For a 39-year-old goalkeeper who has not played for a year and a half, it's very cruel. But we all know that what you get and what you deserve are two very different things.

"I'm proud of the team's performance. I thought it was excellent, both in defense and in attack.

"On another occasion, I would have been here after Manchester City, not only feeling good about the performance, but also the result. I only have to feel comfortable with the performance. "

Palace boss Hodgson was disappointed to lose his former club Liverpool

Zaha was sometimes unplayable, and the Reds' right-back James Milner was finally fired after being attacked twice. For Hodgson, the winger deserved more.

He added, "Wilf played very well. As the game progressed, we began to attack more and more often. That's when he comes alive and can show his full range of skills.

"He gave a good performance and it is unfortunate that he has no point to report, which would have highlighted the fact that he gave a good performance."
