Her first name was an unexpected choice when it was announced – although it also bears the name of her grandmother, Princess Anne.

Isla Elizabeth Phillips
Born on: March 29, 2012
Isla Phillips was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and is Savannah’s younger sister.
At the time of her birth, Isla was the last in a long line of royals to bear the name of Queen Elizabeth.

George Alexandre Louis of Cambridge
Born on: July 22, 2013
The future king was born at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington and is the oldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
George is a name that recurs time and time again in royal history, which means the prince was likely named in honor of one of his ancestors, such as King George VI – the father of Queen Elizabeth .
The name Alexander is the male version of the Queen’s middle name, Alexandra.

George’s middle name, Louis, is in honor of Prince Philip’s uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten and is a name that has been passed down through generations from Prince Charles to Prince William and his sons, George and Louis.
Mia Grace Tindall
Born on: Jan. 17, 2014
Mia Tindall is the first child of Zara Tindall (born Phillips) and Mike Tindall, she is also the fourth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth. The couple opted for a name never seen before in the royal family.
Mia comes from the Egyptian word for “beloved” and is also Italian for “mine”.
The Latin origin of her middle name, Grace, means “charm”.

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge
Born on: May 2, 2015
Princess Charlotte was born almost two years after her brother Prince George at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.
Her first name has previous royal ties, such as Queen Charlotte, the queen consort of King George III.
Her first name is clearly in honor of her great-grandmother, the Queen, and her middle name comes notably from her paternal grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge
Born on: 23 april 2018
The youngest of Cambridge children was born on St. George’s Day in the same hospital as his older siblings.
Louis is a name passed down from Lord Louis Mountbatten, an uncle of Prince Philip and beloved mentor of Prince Charles.
Louis is the middle name of his grandfather, Prince Charles, his great-uncle, Prince Edward, his father, Prince William and his brother, Prince George.

The female version of the name, “Louise” was also used for members of the royal family, such as Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor.
Arthur is a middle name shared between Prince Charles and Prince William. His middle name is of course in honor of his grandfather.
Lena Elizabeth Tindall
Born on: June 18, 2018
Lena is Zara and Mike Tindall’s second daughter and she lives with her family in Gloucestershire on the Gatcombe Estate.
Her name was a unique choice for the royal family, but it is loosely linked to another royal, Princess Helena, Queen Victoria’s fifth child.
Like many family members, her middle name is a tribute to her great-grandmother, the Queen.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor
Born on: May 6, 2019
The announcement of Archie’s name was the first in a long line of surprises to come from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The name Archie was seen as another break with tradition when it came to naming the new royal baby.
The Sussex’s Archewell Foundation was started after their son was born and they explained how they came up with the name.

Archie’s middle name is Harrison, a name that dates back to the Middle Ages and literally means “Son of Henry” or “Son of Harry”.
August Philip Hawke Brooksbank
Born on: February 9, 2021
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child was born at Portland Hospital in Marylebone, the same location where her mother was born in 1990.
In an Instagram post to her 1.5 million followers, Eugenie revealed her son’s name and then revealed the many royal ties behind it.

August was the first name of Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria.
It is well known that Princess Eugenie’s mother Sarah, Duchess of York has a keen interest in Queen Victoria’s life, which means the name is likely a nod to her passions.
Philip was included in honor of Eugenie’s grandfather, who died exactly two months after August’s birth. Hawke’s unusual name comes from the Brooksbank family side, with the namesake being August’s five-time great-grandfather.
Lucas Philippe Tindall
Born on: March 21, 2021
Lucas Tindall had a dramatic debut because, according to his father Mike Tindall, he was born very quickly on the bathroom floor of their home in Gloucestershire.
Much like August, Lucas was named after his great-grandfather who died just days after his birth. The name Philip is also shared with Mike’s father, so the family feeling is shared on both sides of the family.
Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor
Born on: June 4, 2021

The Queen’s last great-granddaughter is Lilbet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Her birth was monumental in many ways as she was the first of the Queen’s descendants not born in the UK, she is also the first great-grandchild to be born after the death of Prince Philip, Duke of ‘Edinburgh.
The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was named after her great-grandmother, but unexpectedly.
Lilibet was the childhood name the Queen used when she couldn’t pronounce Elizabeth. It then stuck around and became her family’s last name, as well as a loving name used by her late husband, Prince Philip.
Her middle name, Diana, was used in honor of Diana, Princess of Wales. Prince Harry’s beloved late mother tragically died in a car crash in 1997.
